PUTNAM, Conn. (AP) — Putnam officials say police will be searching middle school students' belongings before they enter school because of three bomb threats and a gun threat in recent weeks.

Parents of Putnam Middle School students have been notified that the searches will begin Monday morning.

Police say there have been three handwritten threats about bombs and a fourth written threat saying a gun would be brought to the middle school. Teens have been arrested in connection with three of the threats, and police say an arrest is pending in the fourth threat.

Anyone with information about the threats is urged to call Putnam police.
