Victim identified in Chaplin homicide

Chaplin, Conn. (WTNH) - The body of a male victim located at a Chaplin crime scene has been identified.

According to police, the stabbing death of Michael Mitchel, 32, of Bellview Street in Willimantic, was ruled as a homicide.

The body of Mitchel was discovered by police while they were investigating a scene at 95 Miller Rd in Chaplin where a woman was reported to be in serious condition.

Troopers and EMS personnel were called to the scene. After obtaining additional information that a second person had been injured, police were able to locate Mitchel in the driveway of a residence at Mt. Laurel Lane. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The identity of the female has not been released. She remains in serious condition at Hartford Hospital where she was transported via helicopter.

Police have determined that this is an isolated incident, and the investigation is continuing.
