New Haven (WTNH) - The Digital Television transition is just a day away now, and there is plenty of information available to help people make sure their televisions will still work.
If you get your TV signal from a set of rabbit ears or a circular antenna and you don't have a converter box, there's just one more day until you can't watch TV anymore.
If you subscribe to cable, or some sort of satellite TV or telcom service, then you're all set. But if your TV is hooked up to rabbit ears, or an antenna on your roof, in your yard, on top of your apartment building, then you need to have a converter box.
Now this is not rocket science. You can get one at any electronics store. They're $40 or $50. You just hook up a couple of wires and you're done.
If you need help, there are groups out there. News Channel 8 stopped by the Spanish Community in Wallingford Wednesday, where anyone can walk in and get help with the process.
Best Buy's Geek Squad is offering free installation of converter boxes.
How many people does this affect? Well, we tried to do a story on the Geek Squad crews going out to install the boxes, and we were told there's literally no one asking for help in Connecticut. So hopefully, everybody is ready.
