(WTNH) - Lifestyle expert Mar Jennings gives us some great holiday decorating ideas from his home in Westport.

Today he showed us how to create a fireplace mantel to marvel over. By adding glass over your existing mantel, you can add several inches in width and length, giving you a larger area to decorate.

Here is how to do it:

1. Measure your existing fireplace mantel.

2. Add two to three inches to the width and length.

3. Go to the local glass shop to get a piece of glass cut. They can usually cut it to size for less than $100.
