(WTNH) -- Smoothies are easy to make, can be ready in only a few minutes and provide a healthy way start to any busy morning.
Whipping up a green smoothie is one of the simplest ways to give your body a host of healthy nutrients according to Wendy Battles, The Clean Eating Coach, a local New Haven-based nutritionist.
Berrylicious Green Smoothie
1/2-3/4 cup almond milk, rice milk, low fat milk or coconut water
1 cup strawberries
1 frozen banana
1 cup spinach
1 -2 tbsp. almond butter or a scoop of your favorite protein powder
1 tbsp. ground flax seed, optional
ice cubes, optional
1. Wash and chop ingredients as needed
2. Add more or less liquid to create the desired consistency.
3. Blend, serve and enjoy!
