(WTNH) - Lifestyle expert Mar Jennings gives us some great holiday decorating ideas from his home in Westport.

Today he showed us how to spruce up a trellis in your yard with leftover clippings from your garden. He added evergreen branches and bunches of hydrangea to create what he calls "winter interest." Here are some tips from Mar to create winter interest in your own home:

1. Find a focal point.

2. Add texture, color, and height to what is going to be unattractive.

3. Fill a planter and urns with evergreens for winter interest.

4. Add a lighting source.
