(WTNH) -- October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and it's a perfect time to talk with oncologist Dr. Andrea Silber, co-director of the "Women's Center for Breast Health" at the Hospital of St. Raphael in New Haven.

How can a woman reduce her risk of breast cancer? Dr. Silber says:

- Mammograms every year for women 40-plus
- Dense breasts may need additional tests
- Do not let fear/economy get in the way
- Exercise
