(WTNH) -- Karen Hinds, consultant and author of the new book, A Young Adult's Guide to The Global Workplace, has put together a step-by step practical guide for young adults to help them plan a successful career.
There has been a sharp decline in the number of available jobs for young adults since the recession. More than 44 percent of young people who want jobs are not able to find employment so it's critical for young people looking for a job to find ways to stand out from the crowd.
Hinds says it is important to learn the essential skills needed to strategically find a job and lay the foundation for a successful career in a global economy. Her book covers topics such as preparing for a job interview in person or virtually, what to wear in a professional environment, building a career network, avoiding career landmines and much more.
"I wrote this book because as an immigrant from the Caribbean, I realized that even with a college degree there are still many important personal and professional success strategies that are not taught in high school and college, and I wanted to provide a succinct guide to make it easier for young adults to find a job and build a successful career."
