(WTNH) -- The kids are organized and back to school, now it's time for you to get back into a regular, organized routine.

Lisa Lelas, who is a professional organizer, shares some best practices to stay organized.

She recommends using an organizing system with 4 D's: Do, decide, delegate and dump.

Do: Simply do the task at hand if it will take you three minutes or less. Don't put it off.

Decide: If you don't have the time now, establish a follow-up date to complete a task.

Delegate: If you can't handle the workload, consider delegating tasks to other family members or co-workers.

Dump: If something is outdated and you will not use it, dump it.

As for your desk, keep as much of the top of the desk as clear as possible. Studies indicate that people work much more productively and creatively when their desk top is organized and clear of clutter.
