(WTNH) -- Getting your kids to read can be a difficult task, but the right books can make it a whole lot easier.

With back to school right around the corner, author Katie Davis has some tips to get kids excited about reading.

Katie likes to pick three different kids books each month.

Children's book recommendations:

  1. "My Side Of The Car" by Kate Feiffer, illustrated by Jules Feiffer.
  2. "Punctuation Takes a Vacation" by Robin Pulver, illustrated by Lynn Rowe Reed.
  3. "I Know a Wee Piggy" by Kimberly Norman, illustrated by Henry Cole.
