(WTNH) - For many of us the Super Bowl means going to a big bash to watch the game and party, but it's also a great way to create some family fun memories with your kids and just stay home.

Lifestyle expert Tracey Kane has some tips for a homestyle Super Bowl.

1) Decorate Away: Put away the everyday dishes and head to your local party store. This is a day for using team colored napkins and plates, astro turf for the table covering and team inspired goodie bags to set the stage for a fun night ahead. Just because you are staying home doesn't mean the night can't be special.

2) Festive Team Inspired Mocktails: kids want to feel like part of the party and adults will enjoy these as well. Keeping with the red and blue theme of the day, you can serve a Cranberry-Strawberry Punch, consisting of cranberry-strawberry juice cocktail, frozen limeade concentrate and a little orange juice, and a Blue Madness Mocktail consisting of pomegranate blueberry juice, seltzer and frozen blueberries.

3) Dinner Kid Style: Grilled cheese has become a huge trend in the "foodie" world. This is a great dinner that will satisfy the little ones with traditional American or cheddar cheese sandwiches. For the adults, get a little creative with fillings. A favorite is sourdough bread with pesto, roasted peppers and mozzarella or gruyere with sautéed onions and spinach. Don't forget to grab a football cookie cutter while you are out to cut them into festive shapes.

4) Yummy Dessert: Finish the night off with a bang. What kid doesn't love S'mores? Dust off your fondue pot, add some chocolate, skewer marshmallows and bring out the graham crackers. S'mores by the tv doesn't get better than this for a kid and I bet the adults will be smiling too.
