Live runway auction of artbras in New Haven

(WTNH) - ArtBra-New Haven has announced its first live runway auction of artbras.

The auction will take place on Oct. 9 at the Omni Hotel in New Haven, with Sunday Brunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

ArtBra-New Haven is the expression of the community of survivors, supporters, and artists, in celebration of and thanks to those who helped in the fight against breast cancer.

Bruce Barber , host of NPR's Yale Cancer Center Answers , will serve as MC and auctioneer for the event.

Congresswoman Rosa DeLauro will also be honored at the event, for her work on "No Drive-Through Mastectomies" legislation, which has helped many post-operative patients.

Additionally, Eileen Kaplan, author of " Laughter Is The Breast Medicine ," will be a survivor model at the event and will be available at a book signing following the fashion show.

Those who would like to participate and show their support for the Breast Center at Smilow Cancer Hospital can do so by purchasing tickets to the auction, submitting a bra or other artwork to the auction or make a donation.

All proceeds will benefit the Breast Center at the Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale-New Haven.
