New Haven (WTNH) - A chance to mingle with about two dozen of the NFL's top players
is coming next weekend. The United Way of Meriden and Wallingford
is holding it's 16th Annual Player's Weekend next week.
Sports Agent Joe Linta joined us this morning to talk about
the event.
On March 6th and 7th, the NFL players represented by JL
Sports will be participating in the 16th Annual NFL Players/United
Way Celebrity Auction and Bowling Tournament Weekend.
Linta says over 20 NFL players from the Pittsburgh Steelers, New
England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens and Philadelphia Eagles,
including NFL Rookie of the Year and Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco,
as well as Super Bowl champ Willie Colon of the Pittsburgh
Steelers.
The United Way of Meriden and Wallingford has been offered the
unique opportunity to partner with JL Sports and bring the gridiron
to our area for some special community events. Players will be
participating in various projects such as visiting local hospitals,
a youth clinic and participating in a Celebrity Auction on March
6th at Zandri’s Stillwood Inn and on March 7th competing in
the Bowling Tournament at Wallingford Lanes. Stop by to purchase
some great NFL memorabilia, enjoy delicious food & have fun!
The funds raised from this special event will be used to
support the United Way initiatives of education, income and health.
