new haven (wtnh) - When you think that your life is embarking upon its lowest point, a local author says it is important to analyze your life and find inspiration. Michael Daluz, the author of "You Gotta Dance" told 'Good Morning Connecticut' all about how a college brawl and split second of poor decision making changed his life.

In 1987, Michael Daluz, a black U.S. Army veteran and Southern Connecticut State University college student with a 3.6 GPA
was nearly beaten to death by a mob of white men as he and his friends left an off-campus bar. We won't give away the story, but an act of self- defense put Daluz behind bars. It was a life altering move that changed his life forever.

Daluz told 'Good Morning Connecticut' that he witnessed a miracle during his incarceration and that led to self-reflection and an inner
transformation. He says "You Gotta Dance" is a story about faith and overcoming great obstacles.
