Teeing off for the 'Y'

The groundbreaking for the Soundview Family YMCA's new state of the art facility in Branford is set for June for 2010. But the 'Y' is still actively raising money for the new building.

On Monday, October 5th, the YMCA will hold 4th Annual Sara H. Forbes Golf Classic at the Clinton Country Club. The charity tournament is named in honor of YMCA board member Jeff Forbes' late wife who lost a long battle with breast cancer. Jeff says his wife was committed to the things the 'Y' stands for, and she'd be proud to have the tournament named after her.

The YMCA's new facility will serve 40,000 shoreline families in the towns of Branford, North Branford, East Haven, Guilford and Madison. It's being built on 24 acres at 628 East Main Street in Branford, just ¾ of a mile from the Guilford-Branford town line.
The facility will include a fitness and wellness center, on-site day camp, nature trails and two pools.
