New Haven (WTNH) - Vietnam War veteran Elliott Storm is on a mission to change misconceptions about post traumatic stress disorder. Storm's novel " These Scars Are Sacred" is now in its 6th edition. The book tells the story of a young marine who serves in Vietnam, only to come home to a world that has turned against him.

Post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD, is a type of anxiety disorder that can occur after one has seen or experienced a traumatic event that involved the threat of injury or death. Many veterans battle PTSD regularly through flashback episodes, recurrent distressing memories of the event and even physical reactions to situation that remind them of what they faced during war.

Storm told "Good Morning Connecticut" that he is touring the country in an effort to educate veterans, their families, and regular people about PTSD. This Veteran's Day, Storm will make a presentation about the disorder at West Point, where he will speak to the Cadets, officers and guests. He has also made presentations at Yale University, Universith of Michigan and The Naval War College.

On November 10th, Storm will participate in a Veteran's Day Panel at Hamden Middle School from 7-9 pm.
