(WTNH) -- Wasps may be scary to some, but they are very important to the eco-system.
The first thought of many when they see wasps is to get away fast and run. However, not all wasps are dangerous. In fact, some are quite docile.
Scott Tucker of Expedition New England says the "bald-faced hornet," which is actually a wasp, is one to stay clear of. These critters are very defensive of their queen and will do whatever it takes to protect her.
Wasps are important, because they eat caterpillars, flies and other insects by the hundreds of thousands every year. They also scavenge dead animals, which keeps our planet cleaner.
Also, wasps are minor pollinators and contribute to the pollination of trees and flowers.
