WTNH-- Each winter, Long Island Sound becomes home to more than 3,000 seals, who enjoy the Sound's calm waters that also serve as a respite from the frigid Gulf of Maine.
And judging from the hundreds of people who turned out recently at Hammonassett in Madison, just for the chance to see these seals, these mammals are a star attraction.
Scott and Race Tucker from "Expedition New England" were here to tell us about seals in our midst.
They are also holding a seal watch called "Race Tucker's Seal Encounter" at the Project Oceanology, in Groton, on Saturday, March 9th from 1 PM-3:30 PM. Reservations are required. For more information go to www.eepinc.org or www.oceanology.org/sealwatch.html .
