(WTNH) - One of the top three New Year's Resolutions in America is to get organized, and by following just a few simple tasks throughout the year you'll be organized in no time.
Organizing expert Lisa Leelas gives some tips on how to do that:
- Be prepared this winter by corralling all the things you need for the cold weather. Designate a small bin or basket to drop in all gloves and mittens. Keep a snow brush in your car, and chapstick in every winter coat pocket.
- Keep a black Sharpe and gold marker handy in a kitchen drawer or office desk for labeling all electronic cords and chargers.
- Make a current copy of all your credit cards every year. Keep them in a secure location, so you have records of them should anything go missing.
- Don't run away from overwhelming clutter projects. Instead, concentrate on clearing small pockets of priority areas, 30 minutes each week.
- Keep your car free of clutter by keeping a small bin on-the-seat or hanging from the head rest; a catch-all for everything from gum wrappers, water bottles, mail and garbage.
- Streamline your closet quickly by simply switching to all matching hangers, whereby all the shoulders of all your hanging garments are in a crisp uniform line, easily visible and accessible.
- Cut down on your regular mailbox junk mail, as well by listing your street address onto the national junk mail removal list.
