Walking a mile in her shoes

(WTNH) -- You don't see guys in high heels every day, but next Sunday in Milford will be a notable exception: the 6th annual Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event.

It's a men's march to stop rape, sexual assault, and gender violence.

The event will begin at 1 p.m., on Sunday, April 29th. Participants will stroll one mile from Lisman Landing, around the Green and back to Lisman Landing, while wearing a pair of women's shoes.

Walkers are asked to use their imagination in choosing footwear.

The event is held rain or shine.

While the event encourages men the put themselves in the shoes of a woman, registration is not limited to men. Everyone is welcome to walk.

There is no registration fee, but each walker is encouraged to collect sponsorship donations. Prizes and awards will be given out to the biggest team, most money raised, highest heel plus more.

All registered walkers who collect at least $20 in donations will receive a T-shirt to commemorate the event. Raise $30, get a T-shirt and a Recipes from the Heart cookbook.
