(WTNH) -- It's almost time to lace up your sneakers for the annual Travelers Walk MS, next Sunday, April 22nd.

Walk MS is the biggest fundraising event for the Connecticut chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

News 8's Darren Kramer is the Grand Marshal for the West Hartford event, and Gil Simmons will lead off the walk in West Haven.

In 2011, more than 10,000 participants stepped out for the Travelers Walk MS and raised a record amount of more than $1.36 million. Team Travelers was the top fundraising team in the state as they raised $58,230.

This year, the walk will be held at 12 locations across the state, including New London at Mitchell College, Cheshire at Cheshire High School, Clinton at Joel Elementary School, Danbury at Western Connecticut State University - Westside Campus, Enfield at JFK Middle School, Litchfield at Litchfield Town Green, Manchester at Manchester Community College, Simsbury at Westminster School, Stamford at Cove Island Park, West Hartford at University of Connecticut, West Hartford Campus, West Haven at West Haven High School and Westport at Sherwood Island State Park.

Participants can choose between a two and five mile route.

Lunch will be provided by Subway and Coca-Cola.
