(WTNH) - Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's administration is backing a proposal to install Global Positioning System devices on some state vehicles to track usage.
The Department of Children and Families would install them on 750 cars, saying the use of GPS devices will improve employee efficiency and resource management.
A state employee union calls it a "morale buster." The union representing DCF workers says it signals to the general public management's distrust of staff to do their jobs while on the road.
The Malloy administration says it would save more than $230,000 in fuel and overtime costs.
