Madison -

If all goes according to plan, R.J. Julia Booksellers will be mobbed between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. May19.
All thanks to a   public/private partnership between Visit New Haven and REX Development to  promote economic development in South Central Connecticut,
The popular store will be the first in a series of "cash mob" events planned for the region, an effort to stimulate local businesses.
Cash mobs were inspired by flash mobs,
The public is told about the event through publicity and are told to  spend at least $20.
Will Warren, economic development director for REX.
"The main purpose is that, over the last several years, a lot of small businesses have struggled."
