BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Desmond Wade made a 3-pointer with 17 seconds left in the game to give Fairfield a 74-71 victory over Fordham on Tuesday in a consolation game of the NIT Season Kickoff tournament.
Wade scored 26 points for the Stags (3-2), and Amidou Sidibe had 10. Branden Frazier had 22 to lead for Fordham (1-4), Jeffrey Short scored 17 and Travion Leonard 10.
The Stags led 60-50 with 8:03 left, but Fordham (1-4) used a 16-7 run to cut it to 67-66 at 3:51. After Wade made a layup for a 69-66 advantage, Jeff Short's 3-pointer tied it for the first time in the second half 69-69 with 1:37 left.
Sidibe knocked down two free-throws for a 71-69 advantage for the Stags.
Fordham's Bryan Smith's layup tied it at 71-71 with 45 seconds left.
Frazier's 3-point shot to tie the game with 2 seconds left fell off the rim.
