NEW LONDON, Conn. (AP) - The Connecticut Sun has opened training camp with three former University of Connecticut players on the roster.

The Sun acquired the top-pick in the draft, center Tina Charles, and her former UConn teammate Renee Montgomery in an offseason trade that sent popular guard Lindsay Whalen back to Minnesota, where she starred in college.

Charles and Montgomery played three years together at UConn, helping the Huskies to an undefeated national title in 2009, before Charles did it again this past season.

They join the Sun's top scorer, Asjha Jones, who won national championships with UConn in 2000 and 2002.

Coach Mike Thibault says he likes having former UConn players on the team because they already know how to win.
