Mystic (WTNH) - Fans of the WNBA's Connecticut Sun were seeing stars in Mystic Thursday evening.
Lindsay Whalen, Asjha Jones, Erin Phillips and Sandrine Gruda from the Sun joined fans on a cruise down the Mystic River aboard the historic steamboat, the Sabino.
The cruise was part of a new initiative by the Mystic Seaport Museum.
"Tonight's cruise is the first step of our initiative to get more children, especially fourth graders, to Mystic Seaport, " said Michael O'Farrell, Mystic Seaport.
Fans got some one-on-one time with the players, taking pictures, getting autographs, and just hanging out.
"It's great to spend this time with the fans, they get to know us better, realize we do have a personality, we're not just these players they see on the court," said Asjha Jones, forward for the Connecticut Sun.
12-year old Mackenzie Brayman, of North Stonington, is a season ticket holder and never misses a Sun game.
"I really like going to all the Connecticut Sun games and I really was excited to meet the players, especially Asjha Jones and Erin Phillips," she said.
