(WTNH) -- Andre Drummond is the NBA's draft baby with fame and fortune on his doorstep.
"It really hasn't hit me yet honestly, but my mom it hit her today," Drummond said. "We decided I was going to go to the draft, so she's been getting nervous every single day that goes by."
The former UConn big man can't wait to start his first time full-time job; his draft night outfit is ready to go. Drummond is projected to be a top 10 pick.
"It's just going to take time," Drummond said. "No one is looking to be a superstar, I'm just going to come in, play my role and let the cards fall."
The 18-year-old has worked out for a handful of potential employers. He's spent the last three months working on his game, dropping some weight and trying to shed an opinion of a questionable work ethic..
"My back to the basket game is getting stronger," Drummond said. "My free throw shots are getting better. They had the same kind of doubts about Dwight Howrad when he came in and look at where he is now. All I know is I'm going to come in and work hard and all stuff, talk, of me being a bust will be put to rest."
High risk, high reward, opinions vary on Andre Drummond. We do know this, he is the youngest player in this years NBA draft and no matter where he ends up he'll have plenty of support.
And that support starts at home: Drummond keeps a tight circle with his mom at the center, and she's all set to move.
"Whether I like it or not she's coming," Drummond said with a laugh. "No, whether she likes it or not she's coming. I'm bringing my sister too."
