Fairfield plays today in Little League World Series

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. (WTNH/AP) -- New England Region Champion Fairfield American begins play today for another shot at the Little League World Series championship.

The 16-team tournament starts Thursday. Fairfield will play the team from Petaluma, California, at 3:00 p.m. EDT.

The Fairfield team made it to Pennsylvania by defeating a team from New Hampshire this past Saturday.

This is the second time in three years that Fairfield American made it to Williamsport. The Connecticut state champion went 6-0 in the round-robin regional tournament, outscoring its opponents 60-8.
