(WTNH) -- He's been named the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player and helped lead his team to victory in the big game. Now News 8 is hearing from quarterback Joe Flacco's Connecticut-based agent about the big win.

News 8 got a chance to sit down with the man behind the MVP quarterback, who took a bet on Flacco five years ago and is now celebrating that decision.

"I'm very proud to be associated with that and really when it comes down to it, I'm just a piano player," said Joseph Linta, Flacco's agent. "I'm really not important in the whole process, I'm just along for the ride."

What a ride it's been. He met Flacco back in 2007 when the 6'6" quarterback played at the University of Delaware.

"When he was a junior in college we had watched film of him playing and I thought the kid is really good," Linta said, "and the grades come out for the NFL and he got a 7th round grade which is really low."

He believed Flacco was worth more and drove from Connecticut to Delaware to meet with him. Flacco eventually signed with him, and the rest is history.

"I'm not surprised by it. Right now you're really proud of him and glad that this turned out the way you wanted it to, that you predicted," said Linta.

Nothing, he says, not even a 34-minute power outage, could throw the quarterback off course.

"Nothing affects him, nothing bothers him," Linta said. "So I knew that on a stage like this with 500 million people watching it wouldn't bother him, it was just another game to him."

Since claiming the Super Bowl title and the game's MVP award, Flacco has celebrated at Disney World and on late night TV and his agent has been there every step, or rather flight, along the way.

"It was so fun, I was just so proud to be associated with him for that day," said Linta, "but it was a whirlwind day I certainly won't forget."

And one that he believes is the first of many victories to come for the Baltimore quarterback.

"Yeah it's great to look at that and know you're a part of it," said Linta.

Flacco is about to become a free agent. His contract with the Ravens has expired. His agent says this Super Bowl win couldn't have come at a more perfect time.
