New Haven, Conn. (WTNH) - Sports Team 8's John Pierson profiles James Ward, a small runningback with big game.

It seems every time James Ward touches the ball, it's a highlight. He is a playmaker at Wilbur Cross in New Haven with jaw-dropping ability.

Ward has scored 11 touchdowns in three games. Coach John Acquavita says he doesn't let up, no matter the competition.

"That to me is a true football player -- someone who comes out against the best teams and teams of lesser ability and plays at the same level," Coach Acquavita said.

Ward has a lethal combination of speed, skill, and desire. At just 5'8" and 170 pounds Ward says he also has something to prove.

"I'm a really small back so I get underestimated so I have to show people what I'm showing now," he said.

Wilbur Cross' next game is at home against Ridgefield on October 9.
