Killingworth, Conn. (WTNH) - Monte Gibbs first got behind the wheel when he was 14 months old.
Gibbs said, "I just started driving around in an electric jeep and I started liking it."
Now, at the age of 14, Gibbs is old enough to turn laps on a Nascar sanctioned track.
On Friday, July 15, he raced Stafford Springs for the first time. He finished 10th in that race.
"I used to have a lump in my throat when I used to send him out there so young, seeing his little face," says his father. "I've learned that he can handle himself."
The Killingworth teen dominated the Silver City track in Meriden. He has won 15 championships and has one national title.
Gibbs also broke records set by current Nascar phenomenon Joey Lagano.
