Bronx, NY (WTNH) - The New York Yankees are sending letters to all of their season ticket holders after it was discovered that the team accidentally distributed the personal information of 17,000 ticket holders.
The information was accidentally released in a mass e-mail earlier this week. The Yankees say one of their employees sent an e-mail to several hundred season ticket holders, and attached to that e-mail was an internal spreadsheet containing names, addresses, phone numbers, fax numbers, and email addresses for about 17,000 partial and full-season ticket holders.
The leak was first reported by Deadspin.com . The team issued a statement on Wednesday that said no other personal or financial information was released such as credit card numbers or other financial data. They also said that premium account holders, such as celebrities, were not affected.
