NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- The New Haven Open at Yale unveiled the newly renovated tennis courts at McClain Park in New Haven on Thursday.
The spruced up courts are close to six New Haven schools, and the plan is to grow some Elm City tennis players.
"To work with the teachers and to incorporate even more tennis into those PE programs, as well as work with those schools to introduce after school tennis programs," said Anne Worcester, the tournament's director.
Playgrounds and other parts of the park also got a facelift.
The renovations are part of the "Fresh Courts" program to support local tennis in communities all over the country.
