Hamden, Conn. (WTNH) - There is heartbreak on Quinnipiac's campus, this evening, after the men's basketball team lost to Robert Morris.
Students were out hours before the 7 p.m. tip-off, anxiously picking up tickets.
"There is no where I'd rather be than with the number one fans in the NCAA. Right here baby! Hamden, Connecticut! Let's go!" said Quinnipiac Sophomore Tyler Genden.
And, Justin Rutty, NEC Player of the Year, said he appreciated the fans.
"They're our sixth man; it's great to have them with us," said Rutty.
History was the key point here. Never in school history has a QU team gone to what is known as "The Big Dance," March madness, the NCAA tournament. The significance of this contest, at home, can not be understated.
And even though they didn't win, fans were still proud of their Bobcats.
"I drove two and a half hours to be here, tonight, I wouldn't miss it for the world!" said one fan.
Quinnipiac lost to Robert Morris 52-50.
