Banks break for Superbowl ads

Sunday is the big day for the Superbowl.

While the Greenbay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers are prepping for the big game companies are breaking the bank to claim coveted commercial time.

When it comes to Superbowl ads go big or go home. Thirty seconds of air time will cost nearly $3,000,000. Experts say it's worth every penny.

"It's still a huge deal to have an ad in the super bowl, it's a great medium from just a numbers stand point, 100 million people all at one time combined with all of those people wanting to seek out and watch your commercial, we find there is really nothing more effective," says Mike Sheldon CEO in Deutsch of L.A.

Viewers can expect to see some familiar themes such as clydesdales, chimps and those wisecracking e-trade babies.

There will also be a lot of Chevrolet. The once down and out auto manufacturer made big ad buys to show they're back.

Don't forget about the aww factor. Sometimes it's the quietest ads that make the biggest impression. Google's sweet spot on long distance love was widely considered the best ad of 2010.
