CROMWELL, Conn. (WTNH) -- It was a toasty second day at Travelers, but the breeze made it much more bearable than the first.

People came prepared for the first round of tournament play, and fans swarmed the first tee as players got off to a sizzling start.

Still the sweltering heat was quite intense. Most kept water bottled in hand.

Mid-day at the St. Francis Hospital tent they said they had only seen "a couple so far."

They said it was nothing like Wednesday, when the beds were full "here and there, not completely full, but we used most of them."

The hospital came fully prepared, beefing up IV's and medical staff with three teams out on the course on bicycles monitoring.

The water supply at the medical aid supply tents did need to be restocked several times throughout the day.

However, News 8 was told that the number of people that needed to be treated for severe dehydration did drop dramatically Thursday compared to Wednesday.
