(WTNH) - Wouldn't you like to know what happened in the UConn football locker room after Saturday's exciting win? It's a win that earned them an invitation to the PapaJohns.com Bowl against South Carolina January 2nd. And, News Channel 8 was there to catch an exclusive glimpse of the Huskies post game.
UConn Coach Randy Edsall may have been thrilled with the come from behind win over South Florida. But he was not so thrilled about being run over by one of his own at the end of the game.
"Alex Fulson will have some running to do after knocking me on my butt. I didn't know who it was, not that I played a lot in college, that's the hardest hit I've taken playing this sport," Coach Edsall said. "I was upset when it happened but now I'm starting to get over it."
The Huskies led for most of the game, but surrendered the lead with less than a minute to go.
It set up a field goal attempt by a kicker who's missed some big ones this season.
"There's a lesson right there, you don't give up on anybody, you stick with all of us, you stick with each other and you get opportunities. And guess what? When he got the opportunity where we really needed it he comes through and kicks it right down the middle," Coach Edsall said.
Coach Edsall is happy to end the season after all they've been through as a team and as a school.
"How fitting to end the regular season like that with all that we've been through, with all that we've been through. I'll tell you what, you guys are unbelievable, unbelievable. You played every play to the very end and sometimes it takes that," said Coach Edsall.
And so now the Huskies have a month to prepare for one more game; one more chance to get a win for their fallen teammate, Jasper Howard.
