Moore gets 3000th point, UConn heads to Final Four

PHILADELPHIA (WTNH) - It was an unbelievable defensive performance for the Huskies, and an outstanding individual performance for Maya Moore.

On Tuesday night, Moore scored her 3,000th career point. The Huskies completely dismantled the number two seed in the region, and for the fourth consecutive year the Huskies are headed to the Final Four.

For the Seniors, Maya Moore and Lorin Dixon, this one is really special.

"This is definitely the sweetest one, because we've had so many more challenges, so many people hating on us this year, so many things to overcome. The way we played tonight, we really needed this game," Maya Moore said.

When asked what team wins by 35 points on their way to final four, Lorin Dixon responded, "We do I guess [laughs]. I mean before this game we sat down and said we want to come out better than we did against Georgetown, because that was a struggle for us. Everybody was on the same page."

When asked how happy he was for his team's players now that they've reached the Final Four, Coach Geno Auriemma said, "Me? You know, I hate to sound like you personally are not grateful for it, but to be honest with you I could take it or leave it. As far as I'm concerned, that's just one more weekend of answering dummy, dopey questions from you guys [the press], and answering about this, that, and the other thing, and why this, and why that. Wiseguys are asking me smart ass questions that they know they're going to get a smart ass answer, then it's going to be all over the world that I'm a smart ass. I could do without that for another week."

Auriemma went on to say that he was really proud of his team. He was so happy when he walked in that locker room and saw the smiles on their faces because he knows his players, and how they worked this year.

Up next for the Huskies, a date with Notre Dame on Sunday in the Final Four in Indianapolis.
