Storrs (WTNH) - Students and faculty on the UConn campus will hold a memorial tonight for football player Jasper Howard, who was fatally stabbed outside a school dance last month.
Celebration is the key word here. UConn is calling tonight's event "A Celebration of the life of Jasper Howard."
It's the latest in a number of memorials, gatherings and vigils since October 18th. That's when a fight outside a dance at the student union ended with two UConn football players stabbed.
Howard later died from his wounds.
We're now hearing about some more bad news for Howard's family. Howard's mother may lose her home. She lives in Miami and gets a rent subsidy from the public housing agency. But her home failed an inspection. She says she was too overwhelmed by her son's death to deal with getting the problems fixed.
The agency says she will be given a voucher for a rent subsidy at another home.
The memorial at UConn is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Jorgensen Auditorium on the Storrs campus.
