Storrs (WTNH) - University of Connecticut men's basketball student-athletes Jerom Dyson and Donnell Beverly have both been cleared for full participation in practice and outside competition as of Friday. Freshman Jamal Coombs-McDaniel has also been cleared to participate in practices, but is not currently cleared for outside competition.

The students will practice with the team today at 4:30 p.m.

The UConn men's basketball team took to the court Wednesday night preparing for the upcoming season with an exhibition game against American International College. However, three players including star guard Jerome Dyson did not suit up. The reason? Eligibility issues.

According to UConn, they just were waiting for routine paperwork from the NCAA to clear the players to play.

Dyson is one of the best players on the team.

Many people think if he hadn't been injured last year the Huskies would have won the national championship.

According to a UConn release they hope to have the eligibility certification from the NCAA by as soon as tomorrow.

The Waterbury Republican American said there could be more to the story. They reported that Dyson and Beverly were somehow involved in an NCAA investigation into potential recruiting violations by the school.

Jim Calhoun vehemently denied that report.

"I'm telling you right now, you better be ready because you are so far off base, it's unbelievable...it couldn't be farther from the truth," Coach Calhoun said Wednesday night.
