Storrs (AP) - Incoming Connecticut freshman Kelly Faris has been named to the U19 national team that will compete in the World Championships in Thailand.

The team will training for the next week at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., before heading to Bangkok for the tournament, scheduled to begin July 23.

Faris, a 5-11 guard from Indianapolis, will be UConn's lone true freshman next season. She'll be back in Storrs in time for fall semester Aug. 31.

Faris isn't the only UConn player getting international experience this summer. Center Tina Charles, guard Tiffany Hayes and forward Maya Moore are all on the USA team competing at the World University Games in Serbia. Moore has had to sit on the bench, however, after suffering a knee sprain in an exhibition game.
