Storrs (AP) - USA Basketball says Connecticut's Maya Moore's has been diagnosed with a knee sprain and will not play in the World University Games.

Moore tells the Hartford Courant that she suffered the injury in a scrimmage last month with Australia.

She will be re-evaluated when she returns to UConn from Serbia, where the U.S. team is playing.

Moore plans to remain with the national team until the tournament is over.

Moore became the second sophomore ever to win The Associated Press' player of the year last season. She averaged over 19 points and almost nine rebounds a game to help the undefeated Huskies to the program's sixth national title.
