(AP) - Connecticut safety Robert Vaughn has been named the Big East's
defensive player of the week.
Vaughn, a senior from North Attleboro, Mass., had 10 tackles,
one tackle for loss and two interceptions, including one that he
returned 20 yards for a touchdown in the Huskies' 24-21 loss at
Pittsburgh on Saturday.
Vaughn is the active leader among Big East players with 12
career interceptions and is fourth among active players in the
Football Bowl Subdivision.
Vaughn is the second UConn player to earn the honor this
season. Defensive end Lindsey Witten won the award after the first
week of the season, when he recorded four sacks in a win against
Ohio University.
