(WTNH) -- It was a huge night for a pair of former UConn basketball stars Thursday. They're heading to the NBA after being picked in the Draft.
Andre Drummond and Jeremy Lamb are considered to be two of the top players in this year's draft class. So it was no surprise that both were taken in the top half of the first round.
First, it was the big man, freshman center Andre Drummond.
He was taken by the Detroit Pistons with the 9th overall pick. The Pistons needed instant defense and they got it.
And with the 12th overall pick the Houston Rockets took sophomore shooting guard Jeremy Lamb, who helped lead the Huskies to a National Championship in 2011.
It's been a rough year for the UConn program with the ruling on the postseason ban over academic scores, but at least for one night it's a proud moment to be a UConn Huskies fan.
