STORRS, Conn. (WTNH) -- Students at the University of Connecticut are in shock and disbelief after hearing the allegations made in a discrimination lawsuit against women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma.
"It's kinda shocking," said Treval Hatcher, UConn track athlete, "it's unfortunate and I wouldn't expect it to come from a coach of that stature."
"It's weird to think that Auriemma would do anything like that because I've met him on a couple of occasions and he's a very nice upstanding guy," said Mason Perron, UConn student.
"I feel like it would be strange," said junior Jessie Fong, "he's a very professional person."
"My initial reaction was just shocked that such an outrageous statement could be made about such a great coach who's done so much for the university, as well as the program here at UConn," said Greg Davis, UConn student.
News 8 caught up with junior Greg Davis practicing at the gampel pavilion. He describes coach Auriemma as a "very warm guy, easy to talk to, very approachable."
Other students say his reputation is solid.
"Everybody thinks of him as a God so," said Perron, "he's the nicest person you'd ever meet, so it's weird to think that actually."
"I would say it's a pretty good reputation so I'm shocked to even hear that," said Fong.
