The accident happened around 10:30 p.m., on Queen St., in the area of the Outback Steakhouse, which is located at 817 Queen St.

Upon arrival, police discovered three injured female pedestrians along the shoulder of the northbound lane.

Investigation revealed that the pedestrians were walking south in the roadway in the northbound lane when they were struck by a vehicle. After striking the women, the vehicle fled the scene, police said.

One of the women was critically injured as a result of the accident.

Police said two of the injured women were taken to Hartford Hospital, while the third was taken to St. Mary's Hospital.

According to police, Huai "Emily" Liu and Yang "Rita" Hong sustained serious but non life threatening injuries.

Yan qiao "Joanne" Chen sustained critical injuries.

All three are 23-year-old Southington residents.

Police said the suspect vehicle may have been an SUV, possibly white or red, which was last seen traveling north on Queen St.

The incident remains under investigation.
