NORWICH, Conn. (WTNH) -- Three people were killed and two others were hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash in Norwich Wednesday morning.
The accident happened just before 8:30 a.m., in the area of 102 Stonington Road, which is also known as Route 2.
Upon arrival, Norwich officers found a vehicle that had gone off the road and collided with a tree.
Officials said there were five people in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while the four others were taken to Backus Hospital.
Two of the four later died at the hospital as a result of their injuries.
Officials said the two survivors are being treated for serious injuries.
The victims' identities have not yet been released.
Route 2 was closed for approximately four hours but has since re-opened.
The incident remains under investigation.
