NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) -- A car ran a red light and slammed into a bus carrying pre-school students, police said.
Police say that the incident happened at the intersection of Elm Street and Ella Grasso Boulevard around 9:45 a.m. Tuesday.
A car ran through a red light and crashed into a bus carrying about a dozen pre-school students to Helen Grant School.
"It was a pretty big accident, said Joann Peterson, of the New Haven Police Department. "The passengers side of the woman's car hit the drivers side of the front of the bus."
The bus driver was treated for minor injuries, but none of the students were injured. All of the children were strapped in with safety harnesses.
The driver of the car has been issued a citation for running a red light.
