OXFORD, Conn. (WTNH) -- A vehicle struck a telephone pole Sunday morning, closing a portion of Route 34, police said.

Police say that a driver lost control of their vehicle along Route 34 westbound, about 1/2 mile east of Punkup Road.

The vehicle traveled off of the roadway, struck a utility pole and flipped over into a dirt embankment shortly before 3 a.m. Sunday.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to Waterbury Hospital for treatment. The injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

The roadway had reopened as of 11:30 a.m. Sunday.
