Child struck in apparent hit-and-run

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (CT Post) -- An 11-year-old was hospitalized with a head injury after the child was struck by a car in an apparent hit-and-run accident in the city's East End Tuesday night, according to emergency dispatches.
The accident happened around 6:45 p.m. near the corner of Newfield Avenue and Smith Street.
The child was taken by ambulance to Bridgeport Hospital with moderate injuries.
